Meta AI Business Assistant Explained: What It Can (and Can't) Do Yet

Meta's AI business assistant now remembers your past campaigns. In October 2026 Meta announced that the assistant can draw on your historical performance, seasonal patterns and goals you've told it before. Other features, like letting it change budgets for you, are still in testing. Here's a plain-English guide to what the assistant can do today, what's coming, and how to use it without handing over your judgement.

What is the Meta AI business assistant?

It's an AI helper built into Meta's advertising tools. You can ask it questions about your ads in normal language, such as "Why did my cost per lead go up last week?", and it suggests changes and explains your results. Think of it as a junior analyst who has read all your data but doesn't yet know your business the way you do.

What it can do now

  • Answer questions about performance. Ask about trends, costs and which ads are working, without building reports yourself.
  • Remember context. The October update means it can use your past campaign results, seasonal patterns (for example, last year's festive season) and goals you've shared before, so its suggestions should be less generic.
  • Make recommendations. Typical ones cover budgets, audiences and creative. Meta says advertisers who follow its recommendations typically see about 5% more conversions at the same cost per conversion. That's Meta's own figure and it hasn't published how it was measured, so treat it as a claim to test, not a promise.

How to get useful answers from it

Like any AI tool, the quality of the answer depends on the question. Some prompts that work well:

  • "Compare the last 14 days with the 14 days before. Which ad sets got more expensive, and why?"
  • "Which three ads have the lowest cost per lead this month, and what do they have in common?"
  • "Last year, how did my costs change during the festive season? What should I plan for this year?"
  • "My goal is leads under ₹300. Which campaigns are furthest from that?"

Always ask a follow-up: "What data is this based on?" If the answer rests on a tiny number of results, don't act on it yet.

When to follow its recommendations, and when not to

  • Usually safe: pausing clearly failing ads, fixing setup problems, adding placements, refreshing tired creative.
  • Check first: large budget increases, broadening your audience a lot, or changing your optimisation event. These can reset learning and raise costs for a while.
  • Ignore: anything that conflicts with what you know about your business, such as stock limits, margins or which leads actually turn into customers. The assistant only sees what Meta tracks.

Why this matters for your career

AI assistants don't remove the need for marketers. They change the job. Pulling numbers into spreadsheets is becoming automatic. Asking the right questions, judging recommendations and connecting ad results to real business outcomes is becoming the core skill. Employers are already hiring for this. Frequently asked questions

Is the Meta AI business assistant available in India?

Meta rolls out features gradually, by region and by account. If you don't see it yet in your Ads Manager, it may simply not have reached your account.

Can it run my ads for me?

Not fully, as of October 2026. It can recommend changes. Letting it act on campaigns and budgets by itself is still being tested.

Should beginners rely on it?

Use it to learn, by asking it to explain your results. But learn the fundamentals yourself, so you can tell when a recommendation is wrong.
